Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB insist on Biafra exit

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu says that the struggle for the actualization of the sovereignty of Biafra remains uncheckable.

Kanu through his social media handle said that Nigeria is a failed state and therefore opines that the only way out of the quagmires is to exit from the country.

“It is the right of Biafrans to opt for self-determination than to remain in a failed state”, Kanu said.

However, while Kanu’s through his IPOB is advocating from cessation from Nigeria to become a Biafra state, the apex social-cultural organization in the South East region, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is differing on the position.

Though, the apex body in a statement recently vowed to team up with IPOB and other self-determination groups in the South East to fight for cessation should political leaders in the country deny Igbos an opportunity to become a Nigerian President in 2023 after the present tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ohaneze has been agitating for actualization of Igbo presidency and meeting stakeholders from other regions to support South East to produce a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction like other regions in the spirit of equity and justice.

But the greatest challenge is whether there will be unity of purpose for Igbos to present a consensus candidate instead of the usual selfish interest and pulldown syndromes like ‘if not me, let it go to other regions”. Time shall tell.
