Former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara boos PDP, returns to APC

IMMEDIATE past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on whose platform he contested the last election, for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dogara, representing Bogoro/Dass, Nigeria/Tafawa Balewa, Federal constituency of Bauchi State was a staunch member of APC until defected to PDP alongside former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and many others prior to the last general election in 2018.

The former Speaker along with the Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni who is also the Chairman of APC Caretaker/National Planning Committee met with President Muhammadu Buhari to acquaint him of the ‘lost and found member’ episode at the State House, Abuja on Friday.

Though former speaker as learnt did not speak when approached by State House correspondents, but Gov. Buni confirmed he is ‘lost and found’, and back to APC family.

At the moment, it is uncertain the reasons why the former speaker returned back to APC he left not quite long.

During his defection earlier to PDP, he said, “I, Yakubu Dogara, hereby announce my defection from the APC to the PDP. In my own case, I would say I took the decision because of the wishes of my constituents who bought PDP nomination forms for me on 12 September 2018.”
