ANAMBRA: Robbery syndicate meets waterloo as SARS overpowers, arrests and recovers items

THE Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Anambra State Command on Saturday subdued a notorious group terrorizing Ekwusigo and environs for a long time and recovered stolen items and ammunitions after their arrest.

This was contained in a statement issued by SP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO Anambra State Police Command, and added that the Commissioner of Police, John Abang is determined to make the state too hot for criminals.

Three suspects were arrested while fireams/ammunition and other incriminating items were recovered from the gang.

“On the 18/7/2020 at about 12:30pm, following actionable intelligence, the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested the following Suspects;

(1) Onyebuchi Osadebe ‘m’ aged 28 years of Akwu ukwu in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State.

(2) Chibuike Ebere ‘m’ aged 23 years of Isiala Mbano LGA, Imo State and ,

(3) Umoke Kelechi ‘m’ aged 22 years of Ikwo LGA Ebonyi State.

“The syndicate had on the 11/7/2020 arround 6:15am at Umuibu village, Akwu ukwu allegedly robbed at gunpoint one Emmanuel Obi ‘m’ of his #700,000.00 Naira, 8,000 Euro, $3,000 dollars and some assorted phones.

“Meanwhile, Exhibits recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest includes one pump action gun, one fabricated gun, four live catridges, #610, 000.00 Naira cash, 4,600 Euro cash, $600 dollars, one shuttle bus newly purchased with the victim’s money, two new tricycles and three assorted phones robbed from the victim. Suspects have confessed to the crime voluntarily and investigation is ongoing after which they would be brought to book.

“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang, fdc reassures Ndi Anambra that the Command under his watch will continue to make Anambra State unbearable to the criminal elements until they repent or relocate from the State”, the statement reads.
