APC commotion: NEC dissolves NWC, endorses Ize-Iyamu, others

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari today presided over the Emergency NEC Meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) following numerous crisis rocking the ruling party lately.

According to report, Buhari frowned at the ugly developments which almost tore the party apart particularly leadership tussle following Appellate court ruling which affirmed the suspension of the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

“What we see clearly emerging, is that we are beginning to self-destruct. This, my dear APC members, is not just regrettable but utterly gut wrenching.

“The potential fallout from this conduct will not only cause us to lose the gains that we have labored for with our sweat over the years, but makes a mockery of our ability to maintain party cohesion and close our ranks. We must return to our winning ways”, the President said.

The NEC also ratified the party’s primaries on Monday which elected Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; a lawyer former chief of Staff and former Secretary to the Edo State Government, to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress in the Edo Governorship Election slated for September.

Furthermore, the NEC directed all party members to withdraw all court cases and enjoined them to commit energies towards securing victory for the party at the polls.

Other decisions taken at the meeting includes the dissolution of the National Working Committee to be replaced by a Caretaker Committee chaired by Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni.

The new Caretaker Committee is to conduct a National Convention to elect new leadership for the APC within six months.
