Covid-19: Afe Babalola, Olanipekun support Ekiti govt with N110m, others

Two legal luminaries, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) and Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) have registered their solidarity by actions to the government of Ekiti state in the fight against the dreadful coronavirus contagion.

Aare Babalola, who is the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti and also Grand Patron of Ekiti State Covid-19 Response Resource mobilization Committee donated N100 million alongside 8oo bags of rice to support the government in the fight as well as lessen the sufferings of the vulnerable residents of the state.

Olanipekun, a member of the committee donated the sum of N10 million alongside a ventilator to the state.

The Secretary of the Committee, Mrs. Margaret Fagboyo announced the donations on Friday stating that the two donations were made during the committee’s first virtual meeting on Thursday with the State governor, Kayode Fayemi, former governors; Ayo Fayose and Segun Oni and Adeniyi Adebanjo and 43 other members in attendance. The former governors are patrons of the committee while Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, the committee chairman presided over the meeting.

The committee commended the state governor for his robust response and commitments against the ugly development and pledged the committee’s willingness to support the governor to succeed in his initiatives to ensure that the state is secured from the epidemics and its negative effects.

Fagboyo emphasized that the meeting was convened for the committee to rub minds on the development and in particular get first-hand information from the state government on the efforts so far as well as consider funding for the cause.

“The committee chairman, patrons and other members applauded Governor Fayemi for the initiative and commended him for putting politics aside and bringing Ekiti sons and daughters in diverse groups to serve the state in the war against the Covid-19 pandemic”, the statement revealed.
