N700 billion: Minister disclaims interview, no funds lost in the inferno

THE Honourable Minister of Finance & National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed has dismissed the reports being peddled by some media outlets that a sum of N700 billion was reported to have been lost in the fire incident at the Accountant General of the Federation’s office.

The Minister made the clarification on Friday through her tweeter account stating that no funds of any amount was lost in the fire outbreak and advised the general public to ignore such mischievous reports by some disgruntled elements who perceptively are determined to mislead the public for selfish motives.

“The general public should take note that Zainab Ahmed did not grant a press conference or any interviews. No funds were lost in the fire at the Accountant General’s Office which was contained to two rooms. Donations are under N30billion to date. This is pure mischief and should be disregarded”, Ahmed tweeted.

Some unreliable online media outlets and some persons in social media have been peddling the fake news that the Honourable Minister of Finance had in a press conference stated that the sum of N700 billion was lost in the fire which has no iota of truth in the rumours.
