COVID-19: CAN, Christ Embassy back govt’s ban, offer churches, branches options for services

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has given its backing to the government’s directive to prohibit any gathering exceeding 20 persons at any place including places of worship in the country.

This was contained in a press release on Saturday by the association’s General Secretary, Joseph Daramola Bade which suggested home-cell and online services in a church with more than 50 members in any of its services.

However, the leadership after extensive deliberations urged pastors not to send members away for its Sunday service on 22 March if above the specified number, instead the opportunity will be used to sensitize the members and carry them along in the new development.

In the light of this, the Believers LoveWorld, also known as Christ Embassy has opted for online services in its churches with a number of over fifty persons. The leadership in Lagos Zone 5 has created an online platform for members to participate in its Sunday and Wednesday services from homes except the small churches.

As a guideline and preventive measures, the body temperature of all attendees must be taken prior to their entry into the church whilst those with high temperature should be advised to seek medical attention immediately. Others are as follows:

  • Each worship centre should be provided with alcohol-based hand sanitizer for compulsory use.
  • Regular washing of hands should be emphasized without sharing of hand towels.
  • Maintain at least (1) one meter (3) feet distance between yourself and anyone that is coughing or sneezing intermittently.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Drink hot water regularly.
  • Practice respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then, dispose the used tissue immediately.
  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, urgently seek medical attention.

For me this calls for people to genuinely repent and accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. For non of the Egyptian diseases can touch any child of God.
Christians indeed should rise up to their faith and know whom they are in Christ Jesus. Throughout Jesus earthly ministry, so many diseases were on earth and if the word of God says “As he is, so we are” it means we have been vitalized by that power that raised him up from death.
More over, the word of God which is our anchor says in Psalm 91 v 9 -11 ” Because we have made the Lord our refuge, even the most High our habitation; THERE SHALL NO EVIL BEFALL US, NEITHER SHALL ANY PLAGUE COME NEAR OUR DWELLING. FOR HE SHALL GIVE HIS ANGELS CHARGE OVER US, TO KEEP US IN ALL OUR WAYS.
This is the time to reach out to the unsaved with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ for ‘Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 3 v 12). But the name of Jesus.
Let not the heart of Children of God be troubled. Jesus never fails.
