SOCIAL critic and human rights activist, Bob Umanah has carpeted the federal government for its purported feeding of primary school children during a lockdown saying that such claims are good story for an animal nation.
Federal government claims to be spending the sum of N679 million daily or N13.5 billion monthly on the project in 31 states of the federation including the Federal Capital
But in a reaction on Monday, Umana who belittled and knocked Federal Government on its claims over the homegrown school feeding programme, stated that such exercise when schools in the country are all currently shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic is illogical and unfounded, and may have become avenue to siphon public funds by politicians.
The activist cautioned the government to be mindful of how they spend public funds saying that accountability and transparency are the pillars of democracy in any nation, and wondered how feeding school children would be subjected to corrupt practices in such a shameless manner.
