What every tenant must know about the landlord (A must read)

Most times, tenants become offensive, angry and call their respective landlords different names particularly when increment notice surfaces. This usually occurs in third-world countries where landlords put up ‘I-don’t-care’ attitudes and behave as lords to their tenants with all manner of rules and nonchalant attitudes in the tenancy spaces.

Amazing! Scroll down for about 50 various estates in Southwest, Southeast, South south including Lagos, PH, Enugu and FCT with their respective prices and locations that can match everyone’s budget!

One funny story by Gilbert Gottfried, which reflects a disgusting attitude of many landlords is thus;
‘A landlord is showing a couple around an apartment. The husband looks up and says, ‘Wait a minute. This apartment doesn’t have a ceiling’. The landlord answered, ‘That’s OK. The people upstairs don’t walk around that much.’ This is indeed a known attitude of most landlords especially the uncivilized and greedy ones.

It is on account of this common behaviour of landlords that a famous philosopher, Karl Marx put it clearly in a more understandable way. He said; “Landlords, like all other men, love to reap where they never sowed”. – Karl Marx

From the above statement, Karl Marx makes it loud and clear, emphasizing that their traits are not peculiar to other men as landlords are like any other men. In fact, if you put a tenant in their shoes, similar behavioral traits will occur. Thus, every selfish tenant is guilty as the greedy landlords.

One ‘dangerous’ secret about landlords, and salient  reason why every sensitive human should dream to become a landlord is; “Landlords grow rich in their sleep without working, risking or economizing.”  – John Stuart Mill.

By the way, who is a landlord? – Simply put, a former tenant that faced a housing problem, dreamt about solving it, and finally worked towards it by buying a land or a house, and becomes owner. It’s a status majority worked out with determination, and not one acquired from birth.

The journey of landlordship begins simply by dreaming and bringing the dreams to reality – as house owners. It is achieved through the power of dreams. But note these dreams are not the usual dreams while asleep. It’s a dream generated out of intensive and dire desire to change status and positions. Another philosopher supported this assertion.

All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” – T.E. Lawrence

To make an uncommon change of status, determination is requisite, and not unending blame games, then, looking forward irrespective of past failures but taking a queue from Albert Ellis, an American psychologist and psychotherapist.

Now, what’s the realistic way out from landlords uncharacteristic, uncharitable and inconsiderate attitudes – prepare to sack your landlord, not necessarily moving to another apartment at another location or binding in prayers alone, but by working towards becoming a landlord too knowing that landlords have one common interest – profits oriented.
Every landlord is always propelled by profits, and the greedy ones will want to leverage on it to reap where they didn’t sow as asserted by Karl Marx.
