Buhari sacks NDE boss, Nasir Argungu

President Mohammadu Buhari has sacked the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr. Nasir Ladan Argungu, the agency in charge of the 774,000 jobs.

Dr. Ladan’s dismissal, according to sources was reportedly to take effect immediately.

A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu reads,

“President Muhammadu Buhari has relieved Dr. Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu from the position of the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment. The directive which was given on Friday, the 4th of December, 2020, is to be effective from Monday, December 7th, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Supervising Minister of the Agency, the Hon Minister of State, Labour and Employment, has been directed to nominate an Acting DG from amongst the most Senior Directors based on competencies and seniority to take over from Dr. Argungu until a substantive holder of the post is appointed by Mr. President.

Ladan, the former DG has not hidden his disdain for powers that be by going against directives of his supervising Ministers, Sen. Chris Ngige and his counterpart, Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN who was his direct boss.

Aside his intractable attitude of working at cross purposes to the civil service rule, Dr. Ladan has granted several interviews nullifying his boss’ directives bragging and boasting that, he has the consent of the President to do anything he wants.

The dimunitive Kebbi State born politician has even granted interviews rubbishing the President’s Special Assistant, Sabiu Tunde Yusuf and other Aso Rock’s topflight staff. In his words during the said interview, Dr. Ladan said, who’s Tunde, see, by the grace of God, I am one of the closest persons to the President today, look at this paper, (flaunting a small piece of paper on his table), this little paper contains details of the last things I discussed with Mr. President, forget what anybody is feeding you with, I am an authority in this government, myself and few people were amongst those who nominated the cabinet”, telling the reporter boastfully.
