Don’t destroy a system you benefited from, Nigerian politician, Moghalu tells Trump

FORMER Presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Kingsley Moghalu has advised the President Donald Trump who was defeated by the Democratic Party’s candidate, Joe Biden on Saturday with a vote of 290 against 214.

Moghalu who is also a Professor of Political Economics called on Trump to accept the outcome of the election in good faith arguing that he benefited from the same system in 2016 when Hillary Clinton lost and he won.

He however said that Trump has an option to challenge the outcome if aggrieved provided he didn’t ridicule and blackmail the same system and process he has benefited from.

“In a democracy, no one should be bigger than the voters. America has held elections for 200 years. The Democrats were crushed when Hillary Clinton lost in 2016 and Donald Trump won, but they accepted it. Now that Trump has lost and Joe Biden won, the same must happen.

“If Trump had won, would the election have been “rigged” and ballots sweepingly described as “illegal”? The whole world is watching the planet’s most powerful country. If this is happening there, what moral standing would it have to censure others on democracy?

“The votes have spoken and, although Trump has the right to go to court, his effort should be channeled in a more professional and responsible manner, not wholesale denunciation of a system that WORKS and always has”, Moghalu said. END!
