The selfish and Wicked Hunter (Part 2)

The Betrayal

He took him to where he buried the yams with cocoyam leaves.
Ayodele couldn’t control his eyes, he decided to have everything to himself.
He quickly thought of a plan and said” we can’t carry this alone,maybe you should go to the village to fetch some help”. He quickly said thinking of what to do next.

Akanbi was furious, he was already suspecting Ayodele, so out of curiosity he went to the village. Ayodele was still in the farm he quickly figure out a plan. He had once heard of a village called Odigbo village very close to the farm.So he quickly ran there to hire a donkey.
On getting to where they wanted to pack the yams the man that hired him the horse lamented
“ahah how did you plant all these yams when i heard you are soooooooooo lazy and i know you stole it so i will tell everyone that you have stolen again” he said.
Fear gripped Ayodele he was as ashamed as he was afraid” please dont tell anyone he said even if i stole please i beg of you he said.
Ok I wont tell anyone but money is the particular thing he said feeling rather too outspoken
“Ok I will give you money and they all packed the yams and went. And he sold it for a huge amount of money.

Back at Ireti, aye Akanbi just got to the village and he went straight to Bamijayes house he drank some water and begged Bamijaye to let his sons follow him to help him carry his harvested yams.
He said ok and they went to carry the yams when they got there he couldn’t find his yams he searched helplessly but to no avail he didn’t find it.

THE SEARCH

After Akanbi searched and searched he couldnt find the yams so he went back to the village and told his friend Bamijaye all that had happened Bamijaye lamented and said “ahah why did you tell him to stay with your yams dont you know that he is a thief you should have buried it where you buried it but you didnt ,why did you now come to take my sons”, he said.

Akanbi was short of words, he didn’t know what to say, he just stared and later he said “I didn’t know what came over me that I trusted him I just told him to stay there so I can go get help but please can you help me gather some youths for the search party”, he begged.
“Ok I will but promise you wont do that again ” he said. “ok I won’t let’s go now before it gets late”, he quickly said.
When they got to the farm along with some other youths they started searching but all to no avail they couldn’t find him.

The Revelation

Back at Odigbo village.
Ayodele had sold the yams for an huge sum of money and he was thinking of what he would use the money to do he couldnt decide on one but at last he said he would buy a car and build an house in Odigbo village and never go back to Ireti Aye because if he went back he knew that Akanbi would ask him for his yams so he did all he said and settled down at Odigbo village he became so rich and successful that the stories of his wealth spread far and wide people from all nooks and crannies came to him for consultation.

One day Ayodele came to him without knowing him as the Ayodele he knew, so he asked him on how to know someone from the past. Ayodele explained to him and from the facts that Ayodele said Akanbi recognised him at once and, he remembered his stolen yams. “Eh ! Ayodele he said is this you? what about my yams?
He was so angry that he slapped Ayodele. Ayodele too out of anger slapped him in return and, they started fighting many people intervened and at last they took them to the kings palace.

Punishment for greed

At the kings palace.
The king came out of his private chambers and asked what happened to them ,each of them explained their own side of the story. Akanbi said the truth but Ayodele liewd he didnt want to say the truth because he knew that the king was wise and will use his knowledge to pass judgement on them so he lied but the king was wise he asked Akanbi the amount of yams he harvested. He explained that the yams were full load at the back of the donkeys.

As at the time the donkeys hirer was passing and someone told him what was happening in the palace at that time he remembered how he had helped Ayodele carry a full load of yams, he quickly ran into the palace to explain to the king when the king heard what he said, he faced Ayodele who was now dumb struck he didn’t know what to say but the king said” I hereby say that Ayodele should leave Odigbo for good and forfeit all his properties to be inherited by Akanbi”. And all the villagers shouted in unison “KABIYESI OOOOOOOOH”
