Manchester United Football Club, a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, that competes in the Premier League, the top flight of English football is again in the news.
The Club’s captain, Jacob Harry Maguire who plays as a centre back for Premier League club Manchester United, was arrested on the Greek Tourist Island of Mykonos for an alleged assault and attacking officers, Police said Friday.
According to report, his club said in a brief statement it is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos. However, the Club added that it will no longer make comments since the matter is undergoing investigation.
Maguire was in court on Friday for about an hour testifying to a prosecutor, where he denied all charges, and it is understood the trial has been adjourned until a hearing on Tuesday.
However, the three defendants are not obliged to attend the trial and are free to return home. Maguire left the courthouse in an unmarked van, refusing to make any comment or statement on the incident.
The prosecutor is considering three charges – aggravated assault, verbal assault and also the most serious one, the attempted bribery of an official.
