Anambra Police records a breakthrough against armed robbery syndicate, others

THE Anambra State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough as it smashed a dreaded robbery syndicate which had terrorized the state for a long time and snatched many cars from the legitimate owners.

In a statement by SP Haruna Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, the  three suspects that finally met their waterloo are Chidi Ugoji ‘m’ aged 31years of Ukpo, Dunukofia LGA; Okoye Onyebuchi ‘m’ aged 34 years of Umunachi and Onwe Chigozie ‘m’ aged 22 years of Ikwo, Ebonyi State.

The PPRO stated that Police arrested the three suspects and recovered two firearms, ammunition and a Toyota Highlander jeep allegedly snatched at gunpoint

According to him, on the 23/3/2020 at about 8:20pm, the Command was alerted that a Toyota Highlander jeep with Registration number APP-49-FM and other valuables belonging to one Christopher Oraukwu ‘m’ aged 54 years were snatched at gunpoint along Ekwulobia road Aguata.

And following the report, police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) swung into action and had on the 23/5/2020 arrested the following suspects,

Mohammed said the suspects were apprehended at their hideouts in Achalla/Nkpor area and have voluntarily confessed to the crime, and assured that the suspects would be charged to Court as soon as investigation is concluded accordingly.

Other exhibits recovered in their possessions according to the statement include one pump action gun, one cut to size double barrel gun, four life-cartridges, one Mitsubishi L300 bus used by the syndicate for their robbery operations and the snatched Toyota Highlander jeep.
