PRESIDENT of the United States of America, Donald Trump has again written to the World Health Organisation (WHO) criticizing the global body of dangerous alliance with China leading to the spread of the corona virus pandemic across the globe.

In the letter dated May 18, 2020 and addressed to the WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the US President demanded for “substantive improvements” within 30 days from WHO otherwise, US government will permanently stop funding the organisation.

Trump disclosed this on Twitter on Monday and accused WHO of having an “alarming lack of independence” from China and added that without the outlined changes in place, the US will reconsider its membership in the organisation.

Trump also accused WHO that it deliberately delayed an emergency declaration under pressure from President Xi Jinping.

The letter reads in part:

“On April 14 2020, I suspended United States contributions to the World Health Organisation pending an investigation by my administration on the organisation’s failed response to the Covid-19 outbreak. This review has confirmed many of the serious concerns I raised last month and identified others that the World Health Organisation should have addressed, especially the World Health Organisation’s alarming lack of independence from the People’s Republic of China”, he stated.

President Trump in the letter vehemently alleged that WHO consistently ignored credible reports on the virus spreading in Wuhan in early December 2019 or even earlier including reports from the Lancet medical Journal.

He further stated that WHO failed to independently investigate credible reports that conflicted directly with the Chinese government’s official accounts including those that emanated from sources within Wuhan itself.

“It is clear the repeated missteps by you and your organisation in responding to the pandemic have been extremely costly to the world. The only way forward for the WHO is if you can actually demonstrate independence from China. My administration has already started discussions on how to reform the organisation. But action is needed quickly. We do not have time to waste.

“That is why it is my duty, as the President of the United States, to inform you that if the World Health Organisation does not commit to major substantive improvements within the next 30 days, I will make my temporary freeze of United States funding to the WHO permanent, and reconsider our membership in the organization. I cannot allow American tax payers dollars to continue to finance an organisation that, in its present state, is so clearly not serving America’s interests”, Trump stated.
