Buhari commiserates with Nigerien President, Nigeria’s former Reps Deputy-Speaker

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the President of Niger Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou on the death of his Minister of Employment and Labour, Mohammed Ben Omar.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), Garba Shehu disclosed this in a statement on Monday and stated that President Buhari communicated with the Nigerien President through telephone and extended deep sympathy to the government and people of Niger Republic and the family of the deceased over the unfortunate loss.

According to Shehu, President Buhari described the late cabinet Minister, who was former spokesperson for the Nigerien government under President Mamadou Tandja, and also served in parliament, as a highly endowed and dedicated politician who gave his best for the progress, prosperity and socio-economic development of his country.

He added that President prays God almighty to comfort the family of the late Minister and grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

In similar vein, President Buhari sympathized with former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (2003-2007), Rt. Hon. Austin Opara, on the death of his mother, Mama Sarah Ihunda Opara (née Oparaodu) at the age of 96.

The Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), Femi Adesina who disclosed this also on Monday stated that the President emphasized that “mothers remain like gold, no matter how old they are”.

He added that the President enjoined the former Deputy Speaker to take solace in the quality of life Mama lived, and the accomplished family she raised as well as all those who succeed Mama Opara to keep her memory aglow by maintaining the virtues of piety, community spiritedness and industry, for which she was known.
