Caverton Helicopters: Mukan becomes new Rivers CP, two others redeployed

THE Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the redeployed the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mustapha Dandaura and replaced by Joseph Mukan. The former Rivers CP has now been redeployed to the Provost FHQ, Abuja.

The new CP, Joseph Mukan was once a Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State in 2018.

This was contained in statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relation Officer (FPRO), Mr. Frank Mba adding that the IGP also approved the redeployment of CP Musa Adze, CP Anti-Fraud Unit.

Accordingly, the Police boss charged the affected Commissioners of Police to discharge their duties in their new areas of responsibilities diligently and professionally.

The posting and the redeployment of the affected Senior Police Officers is with immediate effect, the statement added.

Dandaura’s redepoyment was believably prompted by the rift between the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike and oil companies in the state.

Governor Wike had signed an executive order barring vehicles and flights from entering Rivers state because of the new coronavirus.

As a result, two pilots working with Caverton Helicopters that flew into the state after the order were arrested by the Police under Dandaura, charged to court, and remanded in Port Harcourt prison for flying a helicopter into Port Harcourt. Their passengers – 10 of them – were also remanded in prison and accused of entering the state “illegally” in violation of the lockdown order by the state government.
