THE Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu has explained the reasons they were “denied entry into the Presidential Villa” after attending the burial of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari who was laid to rest on Saturday at Gudu Cemetery.
Garba in his tweet on Sunday stated that the action was in compliance to the standard rules put in place by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and Ministry of Health which applies to everyone adding that the Villa has been operating digitally since the lockdown which began few weeks ago.
He emphasized that the restriction policy has been in place and demanded that anyone who exposed himself to any place or persons where infection of the dreadful contagion is probable must go on self-isolation for 14 days as a laid down rule, hence not new to members of staff at the State House.
“There is nothing extraordinary about those of us who attend Abba Kyari’s funeral being advised to distance ourselves from the Villa.
“This is in line with the standard rules put in place by the National Centre for disease Control (NCDC) and Ministry of Health which applies to everyone. You do these things to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
“For the most part, the Villa has operated digitally in the last few weeks so there is really nothing new to this”, Garba stated.
It will be recalled that even one of President Buhari’s daughters that flew in from the United Kingdom self-isolated herself for 14 days before joining the family in the villa in compliance with the preventive measures outlined by the health professionals.
