Benin-based clergy, Omoregie demands fairness in relief materials distribution

A GOSPEL minister, Revd. Austin Omoregie has called on the federal and state governments to ensure that the suffering masses are not allowed to die of hunger in the trying times adding that the scope of hardship most of the vulnerable people are going through presently are better imagined than witnessed.

Omorogie, who is the Senior Pastor of Faith Galaxy Church in Benin-City made the remarks on Friday stating that government should dutifully reach out to the people irrespective of party affiliations adding that the reports across the nation indicate that the relief materials particularly foods and edibles are being distributed to mostly party members.

Omoregie commended the sensitization programme that was championed by National Volunteer Group (NVG) on Covid-19, Edo State chapter in Oredo Local Government Area in the state on Thursday and said such activity should be sustained to go round across other LGAs.

The clergy emphasized that the social intervention programme is meant for all the vulnerable citizens and therefore wondered why some people could be discounted as beneficiaries merely for not belonging to a particular political party.

He added that it would amount to gross wickedness for relief materials provided for the suffering masses to be diverted to some preferred quarters by government officials, and called for fairness and honesty in the exercise to lessen the sufferings of the masses.

The gospel minister expressed optimism that the Coronavirus will eventually be overcome however appealed to the people to comply with the preventive measures and guidelines the health authorities have unveiled while the search for its cure gathers momentum.
