
REA will be repositioned to deliver unprecedented commitment to rural electrification – Hon. Kurfi

The recently appointed Chairman of the Board for the Rural Electricity Agency (REA) in Nigeria, Hon. Danlami Muhammed Kurfi has said the agency under his chairmanship will be repositioned to undertake unprecedented commitment to the actualization of its mandate.
The Chairman who was accompanied by members of his entourage including Professor Mainasari Y. Kufi, Sir Obi Ubawike (SA, Project Monitoring and Evaluation), Bala Muhammed (SA Protocol), Aliyu Haliru Kurfi (SA Technical) and others was warmly received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Engr. Ahmad Salihjo Ahmad at the agency’s headquarters in Wuse, Abuja on Tuesday.
Hon. Kurfi who spoke at the meeting with members of the Board, Management and stakeholders noted that the presidential charge he received while being appointed was to ensure that the agency stands out in excellent service delivery to Nigerians.
He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy of the appointment and assured that he would justify same through hardwork, diligence and commitment. The Chairman appreciated the tireless commitment of the Managing Director and staff of the agency, he also assured that the Board will work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Nigerian unserved communities are torched with sustainable power supply and an enhanced livelihood.
The meeting which was the first official engagement since Kurfi’s emergence as Chairman created an interactive platform for stakeholders in rural electrification to discuss the future of power supply to Nigerian communities and, Kurfi hinted that the Board under his watch will channel greater commitment to renewable energy in line with the global trend and best practices. Giving the global diversity in renewable and sustainable power, Kurfi said the REA will be repositioned to take advantage of the tech world in advancing its mandate and assured that the agency’s doors will be open to embracing partnerships and collaboration.

Prominent faces at the inaugural meeting were the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Engr. Ahmad Salihjo Ahmad, who received the Chairman and expressed his excitement at the appointment. Other members of the Board present were Chief Chidi Emmanuel Nwogu, Michael Oluwagbemi, and Mrs. Adekunle.
The Executive Management at the meeting also included Dr. Sanusi Ohiare, ED (Rural Electrification Fund), Engineer Barka Sajou, ED (Technical Services), Dr Olaniyi Alaba Netufo ED (Corporate Services). The Chairman of the Board also embarked on a familiarization tour of the offices and interacted with Staff, Heads of Departments and Divisions of the agency. END!
