Arise and Keep Moving

By Adunke Olatunji

Winston Churchill once said, “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm”.

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, was a British statesman, army officer, and writer. He was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, when he led the country to victory in the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955.

Life is mobile. The Earth is not static. As the planets are revolving around the Sun so seconds, minutes and hours lead to day eventually, sums up to year. Whatever that has come to stay lives in progression. Nothing happens automatically because stages lead to process that generates result.

When you are static, lots of things refuse to come to fruition. Progress cannot be achieved without action. We accumulate fears by sitting down while we overcome them by action. If you are going to make marks in life and be a figure to reckon with, there must be agitation for progress. Progressive minds are always at alert and alive to cause changes within their sphere of influence.

The ability to move on depends largely on the propelling force within. There is no man without a goal or vision only that they are differ based on different factors such as cultural, economic, religious, political etc.

Achievement is a function of preparation. A man that is diligent in his work will surely achieve great things in life.

However, this does not mean challenges would not hit the boat of progress. When confronted with difficulties, it is the focus that will drive the tenacity to keep on. The resilience propagates great results. Instead of remaining on a spot accepting defeat and remain a failure, stand up and keep moving. Think about a new way to get improvement. Never allow failure of the past or in your trials to deter you from flying higher. Thomas Edison performed 100 experiments to invent electric bulb. What if he had stopped along the way and, when asked what fueled his encouragement for the great accomplishment, he simply stated he had learnt how to make the bulb in ninety-nine times and the hundredth is the victory.

A lot of people refused to move on because of past encounters, failures, challenges they have experienced. Many fell but refused to stand. The irony of not trying at all is retrogression. You cannot be static. It is either you are moving forward or going backward.

For instance, in an economy that is experiencing serious devaluation of currency. If some amount of money is made and the person stops adding more as a result of unforeseen or eventualities. The purchasing power will decrease gradually even as the amount reduce.

The world is place of war. We are in the battle field. The very day a baby is born, it is faced with lot of encumbrances even as it pushes out through the birth canal to face the reality of the new world. The baby cannot go back. The development process must continue and in the face of expected and unexpected problems results must be achieved.

Falling does not mean keep sleeping. Always push for the best. Make use of every available opportunities by combining different resources to achieve what you desire. The holy book of Christians say a man falls seven times though he shall rise again. Why did the Bible say seven times?

Because no limits to failure and same time irrespective of your situation and peculiarities you can reach the top. When you fall you can rise again. Failure they say is the pillar of success. Life is full of ups and downs. The power of addition and subtraction make the science of mathematics perfect and complete.

Remember, if you remain where you fall the situations cripples the more and subjects to harsh conditions. However, the good news is, you can do it again.

To sum, I beg to borrow a profound related quote by Calvin Coolidge. He said;

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

Calvin Coolidge was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 30th president of the United States from 1923 to 1929. A Republican lawyer from New England, born in Vermont, Coolidge worked his way up the ladder of Massachusetts state politics, eventually becoming governor of Massachusetts.
