
Ben AKabueze
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the tenure of Ben Akabueze as Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation.
In a statement by the presidency on Monday, the renewal of the term is to enable Akabueze continue with critical reforms going on in the Budget office.
President Buhari expressed satisfaction on the work the Director-General has done since his assumption office to oversee the Budget Office of the Federation amid crisis that rocked the unit which included budget padding and others.
Akabueze, a distinguished banker, accountant, economist and administrator, is formerCommissioner for Economic Planning & Budget, Lagos State, Nigeria.
He holds a first class B.Sc degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and an Advanced Management Programme Certificate from the Lagos Business School. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators (FICA), he had over 23 years’ experience in Accounting, Consulting and Banking, rising to the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive of NAL Bank Plc (2000-2005), and Executive Director – Sterling Bank Plc from January to August 2006 before going into the public sector.
He served as Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget from January 2007 till May 2015, having first been appointed by Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and then re-appointed for the second term by Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), then governor of Lagos.
