THE ALL Progressives Congress (APC) has lambasted the major opposition, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on its romance with a globally known internet fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas also known as “Ray Hushpuppi” saying that a lot need to be unveiled.
The Nigerian cybercrime suspect was recently arrested along with associate(s) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and extradited to the United States of America to face trial over cyber-enabled fraud and Business Email Compromise (BEC) schemes
In a statement during the weekend by Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yekeen Nabena, the party called upon the Economic and financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), and other agencies to investigate money laundering reports linking some PDP leaders and financiers to the Dubai-based fraudster.
The statement revealed that the PDP leadership turned Dubai into their ‘Strategic’ meeting place ahead of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria with the cybercrime kingpin well embraced, involved and visibly committed.
The APC spokesperson specifically mentioned former vice president and PDP presidential candidate in last general elections, Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Yakubu Dogara, Dino Melaye amongst PDP chieftains who are Ray Hushpupp’s associates.
“At different times, “Hushpuppi” was been photographed in Dubai meeting with the PDP’s 2019 presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Senator Dino Melaye among other PDP stalwarts.
“While relevant authorities investigate the nature of their relationship and business partnership, we also challenge the PDP leadership to do the same by opening up on the nature of the relationship, particularly the kind of services the arrested “Hushpuppi” provided them”, Nabena said.
Similarly, a chieftain of the ruling party, Chief Wisdom Ogoms castigated PDP stating that the volume of Dollars the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar shared at the party’s national convention convinced everyone that he had such a strong backup and financier like Hushpuppi who has ill-gotten wealth to throw around.
Ogoms added that God saved the country from the evil plot as the treasury of the nation would have been converted Hushpuppi and Atiku’s assets if he had succeeded.
“God rescued the nation from the hand of the evil plots that would have finished the nation as our treasury would have become accessible to Hushpuppi as no criminal invests where he wouldn’t benefit from”, he said.
