FG places Kano under 14-days lockdown, salutes frontline workers

THE Federal Government has placed Kano state under two weeks’ lockdown with immediate effect following the alarming mysterious deaths that were recorded in the state in recent time.

President Muhammadu Buhari announced the lockdown in his national broadcast to the nation on Monday during which he relaxed some states including the Federal capital Territory he earlier subjected under the same situation against spread of corona virus in the areas.

“With regards to Kano, I have directed the enforcement of a total lockdown for a period of two weeks effective immediately. The Federal Government shall deploy all the necessary human, material and technical resources to support the State in controlling and containing the pandemic and preventing the risk of further spread to neighbouring States”, the President stated.

President Buhari also commended frontline workers who sacrificed their lives to work for the nation against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic across the country noting that federal government was aware that some have been affected while in the national assignment, and assured that federal government will live to its expectation in ensuring their safety and other necessary supports to them alongside their families.

“I wish to once again, commend the frontline workers across the country who, on a daily basis, risk everything to ensure we win this fight. For those who got infected in the line of duty, rest assured that Government will do all it takes to support you and your families during this exceedingly difficult period. I will also take this opportunity to assure you all that your safety, wellbeing and welfare remain paramount to our Government”, Buhari stated.
